The new central depot which opened to the public Octowas designed in the Beaux Arts style and is marked with an open 3-story high waiting room with two rows of long benches and tall expansive windows. The most noticeable of these changes was the new central depot designed by Aaron Gove and Thomas Walsh. To accommodate an increasing number of travelers, planning for a new terminal building began in 1909. In 1894, a fire that started in the ladies restroom destroyed three quarters of the building, which was rebuilt with a taller tower in 1895. Taylor, with its tall ornate roof and tower, was started in 1880 and completed in 1881.
